Week 5

1.0 Practical

Recolouring In Class Practice

Final outcome of my edited East Asian Model

Project 1 Exercise 3 Part 2- Recolouring

Dr. Martin told us to pick one photo out of 30 photos from the Google Drive folder. I picked a black and white handsome boy photo.

I search two photos from the internet to recolour the hair and skin of the black and white boy.

The final outcome

Project 2 Part B: Photo Manipulation- Make Yourself Into Cyborg (Partly)

Mr. Martin explain to us what is a cyborg. He want us to think of a part in our body that we wish to transform into a cyborg. We need to explain what is the reasons of turning that body part into a cyborg. We are require to sketch 1 to 3 ideas.

I only managed to come up with 1 sketch. In the sketch, both my legs are transformed into cyborg.

I want to create a pair of cyborg legs for myself, as I love working out and exploring a lot of different places. With these cyborg legs, I can run effortlessly without feeling tired and can go to a lot of different places in a short period of time. With this pair of legs, I will not be stuck in the jam. During peak hours, I can run home at the speed of light. It saves my time and my petrol money. I do not need to spend money to buy a car for transportation. This pair of cyborg legs acts as my transporter. I can travel to different states by using my cyborg legs, without paying toll. I can workout without feeling tired as I have a pair of super strong legs.

2.0 Lecture

In week 5, Mr. Fauzi talk about the Exposure setting, that includes Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO

What is Exposure?

“Exposure” is the act of exposing the image sensor to light. By adjusting the amount of light, you can make a photograph of a bright sunlit scene look dark, or a shot of a dark interior look bright.

What is Shutter?

Shutter speed is the time when the shutter is open. The faster the speed, the shorter the time the shutter is left open, and the time for the image sensor exposed to light is shorter.

The shorter the time the image sensor is exposed to light, the photo will be darker. On the other hand, the slower the shutter speed, the longer the time the image sensor is exposed to light, and the brighter the resulting photograph.

What is Aperture?

Aperture (expressed as an f-number) controls the brightness of the image that passes through the lens and falls on the image sensor.

The higher the f-number, the darker the image projected on the image sensor, and the darker the resulting photograph.

The lower the f-number, the brighter the image projected on the image sensor, and the brighter the resulting photograph.

What is ISO?

ISO is a camera setting that increases or lowers the amount of light in a photograph. It’s always best to take advantage of all the natural light you can get your lens on, but sometimes darker conditions call for a higher ISO.

In ideal conditions, set your base ISO (either 100 or 200), this will result in higher detail and quality. In the dark however, it’ll be necessary to use a higher ISO, with the highest typically being 6400 – be warned, this will increase the amount of grain, or noise, in the photograph.

3.0 Tutorial

In this week's tutorial, Mr. Fauzi brief us on the self titled project. Self-titled is an exploration project for the students to express their own individuality and reflect their personality into digital art self-expression. The main idea is to build up self-confidence and discover their interest. The main idea is to build up self-confidence and discover their interest.

I am a health-conscious person. I work out every day, each session is at least 30 minutes. I am passionate about indoor cycling. I ensure I have a balanced diet every day and consume less processed and fried food. I try to stay positive when I face problems in life or academically, as I believe a positive mindset plays an important role in achieving a healthy lifestyle. “To ensure good health: eat lightly, breathe deeply, live moderately, cultivate cheerfulness, and maintain an interest in life.” -William Londen. This is a quote that I really love, as it reflects my goals of life.

I am a dog lover. I believe that dogs will calm my mind whenever I am frustrated or hopeless. They will always be there for me no matter what happens. They are not only my pet, but also a part of the family. “My main characters are the most sunny, happy, optimistic, loving creatures on the face of the Earth. I couldn’t be happier that’s where I start. I can put as many flawed people in the dog’s world as I like, but the dog doesn’t care. Dog doesn’t judge, dog doesn’t dislike. Dog loves. That’s not so bad.” – Bruce Cameron. This is my favorite quote; it truly reflects what dogs truly meant to me.

My design will be mainly be yellow colour. As sunflower represent a healthy life and sunshine is the most essential part of it.
